27th IPS Astronomy Retreat 2023

Organised by the Institute of Physics, Singapore. The 27th IPS Astronomy Retreat promises a reconnection with the cosmos for Singapore students and public alike.  

From 19 to 22 June 2023, SST Astronomy club participated in the 27th IPS Astronomy Retreat. During the retreat, there are participants from the following: 

(a) National University of Singapore Astronomy Society, 

(b) NUS High School of Maths and Science Astronomy Club

(c) School of Science and Technology Astronomy Club

were present.

In the day time, various talks and workshops were conducted, including the following:

* Capturing Our Universe by Mr. Remus Chua 

* Satellite Tracking Workshop by Mr. Tan Hoe Teck (SST)

* Bridging the gap: talking astronomy to non astronomers by Mr. Yuen Xiang Hao (NUS High) 

* Birdwatching for Beginners by Ms. Cecillia Yip 

* Endau-Rompin National Park by Dr. Lee Lay Tin 

* Building Telescopes Workshop by Dr. Abel Yang (NUS) 

* Planetarium Session by NUS Astronomical Society (NUSAS)

The night time was reserved for students and adults alike to engage in their Astronomical interest. Observations by SST students included the following:
