(d) School of Science and Technology, Singapore

20 participants from SST participated in the event.

The event is organised by Institute of Physics:

Dr. Abel Yang
is a former NUS Special Programme in Science (SPS) student, and received his BSc with Honours in Computational Physics. He received a PhD from Virginia University (USA) on Observational Cosmology. Elected Member of Institute of Physics, Singapore (IPS) and Sigma Pi Sigma, USA. He was the Deputy Director of the 2016 Solar Eclipse event at NUS and received the IPS Cadi Scientific Medal.

Assoc. Professor Phil Chan
, Deputy Head of NUS Physics Department, holds the NUS Chair for General Education. He is a Fellow at the Institute of Physics, Lon- don and was a Visiting Scholar for History and Philosophy of Science at Cambridge University.

The speakers for the event included:
Mr. Tan Hoe Teck

He received the IPS Cresendas Physics Medal and Prize (2009) for outstanding physics teaching at JC level. Elected Member of Institute of Physics, Singapore (IPS).

Mr. Alfred Tan
works as a vice-principal in the Ministry of Education (MOE). Prior to joining MOE he worked on military defense systems exploiting different wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum. Making use of his knowledge as a defense technologist, he picked up astronomy as a hobby in 2009. Since then, he has been sharing his knowledge of astronomy in schools and public outreaches. Elected Fellow of Institute of Physics, Singapore (IPS) and recipient of the 2013 IPS Crescendas award.

Dr. Leek Meng Lee
received his BSc (Hons) in Physics, MSc, and Ph.D. in theoretical physics (Condensed Matter) from NUS. He is currently a Physics Lecturer at Nanyang Technological University. He is a passionate astrophotographer. Elected Member of Institute of Physics, Singapore (IPS).

Mr. Michael Mathews
is an astronomy enthusiast. He started the hobby during his polytechnic days with SPAstronomers interest group in 2001 and never looked back since then. He has been involved in numerous astronomy events with various Astro communities, and mainly with SingAstro. In 2016, he led a group of Singaporeans, together with Cosmocraft, to Luwuk, Indonesia, for an experience of a lifetime - the Total Solar Eclipse.

Dr. Lim Kim Yong
is a Manager at the Physics DEMO Lab, National University of Singapore. He is an elected member of the Institute of Physics, Singapore (IPS) and received his Ph.D. in Experimental Nanophysics at the National University of Singapore. He received the 2018 IPS Cadi Scientific Medal.

Mr. Remus Chua
is a Director at Navagis LLC San Francisco. He is a former NUS Research Scholar, where he received both his BEng (Hons) and MEng. from the National University of Singapore.
