Students are interested to join the club may contact Mr. Tan at tan_hoe_teck@sst.edu.sg . Selection for the CCA is done through interviews and quizzes
during the Secondary 1 Orientation each year.
Activities
The main activities included field trips, competitions and workshops.
We made use of computer simulations, documentaries, science fiction movies and model
building in our learning.
Field Trips
The club conducts field trip every year to places such in
Malaysia and Indonesia, where the telescopes are put to good use.
Desaru Astronomy Field Trip 2013(Bintan), 2014(Port Dickson) and 2015(Desaru).
Talks
and Workshops
Attending a NASA Public Lecture by James GREEN, Director of Planetary Science Division, NASA HQ
Competitions
The club also participates in Astronomy quizzes such as the
Nanyang Polytechnic Astroquiz, the Astrigue Astronomy Quiz and the Galacsi
Astronomy Quiz.
In 2015, SST came
back with Silver awards in Most Creative Category, Alliance Category and Team
Award Category. We also achieved a Bronze award in Alliance Category and Merit
award in School participant Category.
In 2014 and 2015, we participate in the Cassini Essay Writing competition organized by NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
In 2014, we won the Explorer award for the most active
participation in the Cassini Essay Writing competition. Furthermore, four
students were given honorable mention awards.
